Happy Soils Program

Industrial Hemp Program

Soil preparation and biological crop support for industrial hemp grown for fibre, seed, biomass, soil recovery and regenerative production systems.

Hemp is a high-biomass crop. Soil function matters.

Industrial hemp can place heavy demand on soil moisture, nutrient access and root-zone performance. The Happy Soils Industrial Hemp Program is designed to support early establishment, rapid vegetative growth, stem development and soil biological recovery.

Establishment

Supports early root development and biological activity before the crop enters rapid biomass production.

Stem growth

Supports the growth phase where fibre and biomass production demand consistent nutrient and water access.

Soil recovery

Useful where hemp is being grown as part of a broader soil improvement, carbon or remediation strategy.

Standard Industrial Hemp Application Rates

Timing Product Rate Objective
Pre-sow / bed preparation Heal N’ Shield Granules 30 kg/ha provisional Biological soil establishment and root-zone preparation.
Pre-sow or immediately after sowing Activate 30 L/ha Carbon feeding, biological activation and nutrient conversion support.
Early vegetative stage Energise Microelements 2.5 L/ha standard; 5 L/ha high demand Supports early crop growth, root activity and micronutrient function.
Rapid stem elongation Energise Microelements 2.5–5 L/ha Supports biomass demand, stem growth and plant stress response.
Stress recovery / poor soil conditions Energise Microelements Up to 10 L/ha only under agronomic direction Reserved for high-demand correction or remediation-linked programs.
Hemp programs should be adjusted according to whether the crop is being grown for fibre, seed, biomass, carbon, soil recovery or remediation. These are not the same production objectives.

For remediation-linked hemp projects

Where hemp is being used in degraded, compacted, saline, chemically impacted or contaminated soil, do not use a commodity crop program only. Soil testing should come first. The program should be adjusted around pH, EC, sodium, chloride, heavy metals, chemical residues, compaction, organic matter and the intended end-use of the crop.

Test first

Use soil chemistry and contaminant data before deciding crop use, application rate or remediation pathway.

Separate crop use

Fibre, seed, biomass and remediation crops have different risk profiles and commercial pathways.

Track change

Use baseline and follow-up testing to measure soil movement over time.

Use hemp as a system, not a slogan.

Send through your hemp objective, paddock history, soil test and intended crop use. Happy Soils will review the biological program pathway.
